Just a quick note to let you know that Jordan and I have been up to some fun in our mini-home studio, and as our gift to you for being so gracious to lend an ear, along with your support, we wanted to fill your ipod (or whatever mp3 device you might have) with some FREE Christmas music.  From 'yours truly' of course :)

As of today, there is currently only one tune on our Noisetrade site, but stop in throughout the month of December, and we'll have a couple more up for you!  We can't say thank you enough.

Of course the question then most likely to be asked: What does that mean for Lucrezio?  Well, it means that we keep playing!  We keep going; keep pursuing; keep loving people and loving music.  Yes being without a permanent drummer will pose as a challenge, but we are on the lookout for a new fourth member, and are really excited about this necessary new step in the life of Lucrezio.  During this time of transition, for those moments where we can’t find a gracious someone to fill in, we will simply play acoustic sets.  Thankfully we love those too!  Of course we will let you know on our calendar those shows that are full band and those that are acoustic. 

In the meantime, here are a whole slew of shows for you, all of which are the final shows that Dave will play.  Most importantly, as these cities are closest to our hearts, Dave’s final Chicago show will be on Friday, Sept. 16th at Elbo Room and his final Rockford show will be Saturday, October 8th at Kryptonite.  As always, we deeply appreciate the support, but more than that, know that Dave would love to see the faces that have supported us along the way, so we hope you might be able to make it out!

For Lucrezio, the start of 2011 comes with great excitement as we prepare to release our album, Storybook, and share pieces of who we are with you through our music.  This is just the beginning of a beautiful conversation with you, our friends, family, and dear fans.

So to kick off the new year right, and as our way of extending some love in the best way we know how, we'd like you to have our single "Dreamer" for FREE!  Simply swap an email address for a tune.  Enjoy!

A lyric taken from the single, Dreamer, off of Lucrezio’s debut album, Storybook. That line reflects in so many ways the course we have taken in pushing this album forward as a culmination of the past two years that we have called ourselves Lucrezio. Recording this album has been an emotional process, as we have seen our passion for this art and for the people listening take on new heights. Although a dream can constantly be overshadowed by the fear of a dead-end, this one moment we can be sure of, in that we are proud of the art that we have to offer; Not only because it has allowed us to reflect on the journey, but because we would want none other to reach your hands than a piece of creative inspiration.

Of course the realistic weight of producing an album has made itself known, and so we have sought out an opportunity through Kickstarter.com that will not only allow us the means to see this project through to the end, but will give you the chance to take on an exciting role in the process!

So here is how this will work.

You may pre-order your SIGNED copy of the album, Storybook, accompanied by a Christmas card from the band ☺ for only $10 when you visit www.kickstarter.com/profile/lucreziomusic.  From there, if you would like to contribute a greater amount, there are rewards that you will receive from the band for your generosity! Those rewards are listed on the right hand side of our Kickstarter page. Your card will not be charged said amount until the project is fully funded by January 22nd.

We are setting our project goal at $2,500, which will cover the remaining three processes that we have to give attention to before the album can be complete: mastering, duplication, and album artwork. Of course there are many more areas that we will need to cover in the near future, such as marketing & promotion, updated merchandise, updated postcards, web design, web maintenance, etc. So if funds are raised beyond $2,500, we can assure you that all will be put directly into the movement of the band! Though no matter how great or small the amount that you give, you will have a profound impact on the steady heartbeat of Lucrezio.

So with great excitement, as well as a twinge of sorrow, our time in the studio is coming to an end.  Just two more days should see this project complete, and the process has been nothing but rewarding.  Just recently someone asked Jordan and myself what reward there was to being in the studio, aside from hopes that our music would fall into the hands of hundreds.  The answer was all too easy, for although we’d love to see our album reach an element of success in our independent musical journey, that satisfaction seems only second to the process of making music.  Recording takes the creative thoughts that have been in our minds and allows them to come to life.  We have the chance to get every note right, to create new parts, let alone the simple pleasure of hearing bass once again.  Our art, before even reaching the ears of others, hits our ears in a way that we can’t replicate given just the three of us.  For the first time, we get to hear the music exactly as it was intended, and the reward in that is what every artist craves.

Though in the end of all things, the music will hit your ears and if in some way you are touched and inspired to dig just a little bit deeper, than the process was worth the effort, and the initial reward one worth receiving.  We won’t be selfish.  This is for you.

So that being said, allow me to reflect for you.  Day #3 in our studio adventures was full of mixed emotion.  From the excitement of being able to record some more vocals and playing that beautiful parlor piano, while discovering that’s it’s the exact same black beauty that my parents own - The sentimentality in that?  Simply the ivory touch on a set of keys that sparked my dreams, and now here I find myself, making music with an equally magnificent instrument, but one that pushes my mind to wrestle with the journey that it led me on.  With a little Seinfeld thrown in, the load was lightened with a Kramer comment, only to soon after discover that we had run into a bit of a snag.  Meaning that we have to re-cut guitar parts for three songs after thinking that guitar was fully tracked.  So much to our dismay, we left with the knowledge that as productive as our time had felt over these past three days, it has still left us needing to pay for more studio time than we had bargained for.  Then of course, we had to leave, knowing that tomorrow we wouldn’t be back.  Oh we’ll be back, but we already miss it.  So with a slight heaviness in the air and a new day that would open the door to our Chicagoland lives, and now sitting here with a rather disgruntled stomach, there is not much more to say about day number three.

Except that we’re ready to go back. 

What aroma fills the air at this moment?  That sweet guitar.  Yes, the sound of a guitar does carry it’s own aroma.  Sweet but sassy.  Strong but simple.  Sexy but . . . well, just plain sexy.  Especially considering that I’m madly in love with the person playing said instrument  :)  Ah yes, but back to the reason we’re all here; To smell the sumptuous delight of music.  Let’s see 4:48 in the afternoon.  Just one hour and 12 minutes left before we call it a wrap.  At least for today.  Guitar tracks for four songs complete, and ready to pump out vocals for song number three.  It doesn’t get much better than this.

Our first day in “the studio” is upon us.  A rather long sought after moment and as I hear the pounding of Dave’s drum kit while sitting in the control room, 2-hrs. after our arrival, I realize that the sound couldn’t be any sweeter.  To some it might be noise, chaos even, or perhaps a tedious process that would drive one to feel like they’ve just wasted 2-hrs. of their life, like after watching a movie where you feel dumber after leaving the theatre.  Not to us.  To us it is the sweet anticipation of music in the making; The culminating point of our love for writing, for performing, for recording.

First song on deck today: Storybook.  Single.  Title Track.  A favorite.  One that inspired the soon to be album artwork and perhaps might find it’s way to inspiring you.  Only you’ll know that.
